Period trouble

I am an 18 year old who usually has 5 to 7 day periods. Starting Thursday the 16th of June I started my period earlier than usual. It went on heavy and mostly normal until Sunday when I noticed it just stopped and no blood came out the next day either. I masturbated Monday night and as I came the blood came back. Should I brought worried? Has anyone else experienced something similar?
