Would you rescue a stranger?

I just saw a video on FB where an Asian man knocks a young woman out and carries her away in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street. No one did anything to help her each of the 5 or so times and he gets away every time. People of both sexes and all ages just watch. They don't even protest. They do the same scenario with a black man and no response from bystanders again. Even a cop drove on by. Would you help a defenseless stranger that needed your help? Possibly saving their life? Or do you think it's none of your business?

Depends.

Before kids, I would interject much more readily probably draw attention to them or even go after someone if needed.

Now, as a mother, my first priority is to protect my children and my second is to always come home safe to them.

I might not chase someone down, but I'd absolutely call the police and I have when needed.

I think it's one of those things where everyone expects that someone else will take care of it. I learned about it in a psychology class there was an example about a woman being murdered there was like 24 witnesses or something like that and they did a study with them and every single person thought someone else had called the cops and no one did. Personally I think people need to not mind their own business more often you never know when a stranger can make a difference.

If I could I'd definitely try to, unless it was going to put my family in danger or could badly hurt myself. If I couldn't personally/physically do something I'd at least call 911 or try to get other bystanders to help out. I wouldn't just ignore it though. I've seen videos like that where people don't do anything and it makes me sad. 0

I have a bad habit of getting involved in dumb shit like that. (IDC though) I always have protection on me and I would definitely risk it. I don't see how anyone can assume it's anything friendly. Like I mean the guy could easily be the babies father and the lady is unknown. But the likelihood of that is slim so I would still involve myself, at least try to trip the guy up. And get hold of the baby myself till the cops came

I've always been the type to care for others above myself. With or without kids I would do something to make sure that the girl was okay. Which mostly means I'd first draw attention to the situation find the strongest looking guy around and encourage him to help the poor girl while I dialed 911 I know I'm not strong or quick enough to throw myself directly into the situation. But this post made me want to carry a purse with a couple bricks in it just so I could knock a motherf*cker out 😂

it's so sad how willing people are to do nothing at all. i'm so grateful for those who do. i was once on the train in slc with my friends, we were wearing costumes because we were coming back from a convention. a strange man asked to take our picture, we politely declined but he kept holding his camera up and insisting. he "snuck" a photo and we were so upset and an argument ensued. there was only a single woman who stood up for us out of the entire train. everybody else just watched. she even continued standing up for us after we left the train and she was alone w the man. it's been awhile since but i think of her constantly and thank god for her. we need more people like her and less "train bystanders" in a sense

I would but I am very tiny and pregnant, so I'd have to call police and/or alert another person rather than physically interject.
