Having a different last name from my daughter?

So I got married back in January and I've not changed my name yet. I still have my old married name and my 6 year old us the same last name. I'm considering either changing my last name to my new married name or hyphenating the 2. My ex isn't in my daughters life at all  if I'm sure he wouldn't let me change her last name.

Anyone else in this situation?

My new little one will have my husbands last name.

My boys have a different last name than me, my daughter and my husband. It doesn't really cause any issues except occasionally the school sends double the forms home because they don't realize all 3 are in the same household. I figure it can be their decision to change it or hyphenate when or if it matters to them. I didn't want to hyphenate my own name and tie it to my ex like that.

I have my dad's last name which is different to my mum's as she never changed hers. I don't think my mum minded (she's always been very happy with keeping her name and she's the one that didn't want to hyphenate her kids names). I personally will keep my last name as well and my future kids will take my SO's last name. There's nothing wrong with not having the same name as your kids. My mum sometimes used my dad's last name for simplicity's sake when my brothers and I were younger because our friends got a little confused calling my dad Mr. X and my mum Mrs Y. But other than that it never caused a issue. Not changing your name is pretty common- I know plenty of women who never changed their name. Do what you feel you need to do. There's no right or wrong answer!
