To the ladies struggling to breastfeed

breastfeeding is incredibly hard. If your baby isnt cooperating, it can be heartbreaking for the mother... especially if its something you always dreamed of doing (literally). Thats how it was for me. The first 3 weeks of my babys life were so diffiucult. Long story short, he wouldnt latch (AT ALL) because of a tongue tie and started to reject my breast completely. I continued to pump and would try to nurse him with every bottle feed, which was so stressful for me. He would just scream. It really broke my heart. I felt alone. I wanted to give up so badly. I started to get depressed, so I stopped trying to nurse for a couple of days just to give myself some peace of mind. On monday, I decided to try one more time before giving up nursing entirely - and by the grace of God HE LATCHED. He has been nursing since.

I've already posted this story like 347392 times because 1) I am extremely proud, and 2) because I searched and searched for success stories like this, and stories that inspired me to keep going but I had hardly any luck - and if I could help just ONE woman out there, that would be amazing.

Ladies, if you are struggling with breastfeeding and you feel like giving up, please remember that you are NOT alone in this. breastfeeding is not easy for anyone. I expected it to be so natural and easy... but the truth is its just NOT easy! It hurts, its messy, its hard, but its WORTH IT. I promise once you get in the groove of things... it is SO worth it. I know what its like to feel completely drained and defeated. We paint this picture in our heads of what breast feeding will be like, and sometimes our perfect picture does not match up with reality, and that can be heartbreaking. Especially when your hormones are going up and down like a damn see-saw. But you CAN do this! Believe in yourself and you WILL succeed!
