transition from bottle to cup?

Question

What's a good time/ process to transition from bottle to cup? I heard that introducing a sippy cup with solids was a good idea but my 9 mo refuses to drink water from it.  He still gets formula from the bottle every 4-5 hours during the day.

Should I give him formula in the sippy cup? Should I try the weighed straw cups instead? Is it too early to transition?!?!?

Any suggestions are appreciated!! Tia

We started introducing a sippy of water with solids at 6 months. He did ok with the straw cups for a while but then decided they were all awful and he doesn't like any of his cups now. Currently the only way I can get him to drink water is out of my open glass, which isn't super practical. I've been talking about it a lot recently with my daycare lady who's been through several kids and she said at this age she expects him to play with it more than drink from it so I don't need to get anxious about it yet. My son also takes 4 full bottles per day still, all his sippy instructions say not to use hot liquid so I don't put his formula in there, he refuses cold formula.

I tried the one with straws and he didn't like that one so much. He still takes a bottle about as often as yours, but I didn't try formula in it.

My pediatrician said at this point my little guy should be transitioning so we we have introduced it with water and he has done great so far.
