How do I get my bf to be

Okay so I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year now and he's an amazing guy. The problem I'm having is although he does fulfill most of my sexual desires he doesn't always do it for me. And by that I mean I would like him to be more aggressive when we have sex and I have tried telling him he can be a little more rough but I dont think he got what I meant.  Any tips for how to tell him ?
