why does losing a baby cost so much?????

It's hard enough already to have a miscarriage but why does it have to cost so much??! I keep getting bill after bill for the doctors office from when I was still expecting to having so many ultrasounds to make sure my baby was not growing. I didn't even have to have a d&c and I ended up miscarry naturally and I still have to pay $1500!!!!

I delivered extremely premature and my little guy lived a few hours so I'm getting his insurance bills right now and it's absolutely heart shattering

I'm in the same boat... lost our little guy less than a week ago and I'm already anticipating the bills to come. :( 3 ER visits (1 overnight), a doctors visit, 2 nights in a private room at the hospital, a d&c, and soooooo much antibiotics 😭don't even want to think about how long we're gonna be in debt for! And then if you choose to bury your baby (we are) there's another couple thousand 😣😒 we loose our babies, and everybody makes money off of it.

My pregnancy/miscarriage/d&c costs were almost $2400 because I have to pay copays and coinsurance (20% of care costs) until I reach my $2500 out of pocket max. Some of the care wasn't covered because it was considered care for an illness, as opposed to preventative care. It was pretty shocking (and upsetting) to hear that had I carried the pregnancy to term and had a typical delivery, my out of pocket costs would have been $900 for a "typical" pregnancy, where my 9 week pregnancy was more than double that.

It was the same for me. I had to have 2 d&cs and paid over $5,000 with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance.

First I'm sorry for your loss. I also find this strange that your insurance did not pick this up. With my first loss it covered everything. Er visits doctor recheck everything. And as this is my second miscarriage (should be 12 weeks currently awaiting natural miscarriage to happen) it has covered everything 100%
