At what age (if any) is it inappropriate for your child to sit on their fathers lap?

Had an interesting conversation with my grandma. I've never really thought about it before but when my baby cousin (she's about 5) was sitting on my uncles lap during a cookout my grandma got upset because it was "inappropriate." In her opinion the only males lap a child should be sitting on is their fathers and according to her that becomes inapporiate once they reach double digits (I.e. 10 years old). What do y'all think?
