preemie baby?

I just had my child and I would like to hear stories of women who have had premature babies.... I'm so anxious for her to come home... like when I go see her my boyfriend has to literally pull me away from the incubator when it's time to go home 😩

My daughter was born at 28 weeks (literally a few days ago)

I had my daughter at 32 weeks. She was 4lbs 12oz. She was labeled failure to thrive. She wouldn't eat in the nicu for the nurses. I would go feed her and she would eat. We spent 13 days in nicu and 2 days on PEDs. We left the hospital at 5 lbs. Lots of Dr visits and do formula changes later I found out she had acid reflux and needed previcid and nutramigin. Finally we figured everything out... Now I have a Happy healthy 9 year old!!!

How early is your baby?

My son was born at 34 weeks. He was 5lbs 11ozs. When he came out he wasnt breathing so he was taken to nicu immediately. He was intubated for a week then on a sipap for a few days. He has respiratory issues so his breathing was very fast and he wasnt able to keep his oxygen saturation levels up. It took 9 days before he was strong enough for us to hold him. For 6 weeks he had a feeding tube because he took a little longer to learn his suck swallow breatje reflex, which i learned was due to a slight tongue and lip tie. 
He developed anemia and almost needed a blood transfusion but was given medicine to get his bone marrow producing iron and blood cells.
My son was in the nicu for 7 weeks and then he came home with absolutely no problems. He is now almost 3 and he rarely gets sick and he is bigger than his cousin who is 6 months older than him and full term. 
Just remember your baby is where they need to be right now. Its going to be difficult. Premature babies often get worse before they get better so if it seems like he/she is going backwards in their development, its totaly normal and they will  quickly start heading back in the up direction. 
Do skin to skin! It is extremely beneficial to premies and helps them grow!  Remember to take tike for yourself as well. This is a stressful time so you need to make sure you Are taken care of as well. If you are feeling a bit tired, stay home and get some extra sleep. Your baby is being taken care of by a trained staff and they will completely understand you taking time to care for yourself.  This NICU time will seem like forever in the moment but when you look back it will seem like it happened so fast.

My oldest daughter was born at 35 weeks. She refused to wake up long enough to feed so she had a feeding tube and stayed in the Nicu for almost 4 weeks.  I cried a lot and felt frustrated and angry with myself. I blamed myself and feared she would have health problems. She is now 7 years old and just finished 1st grade.  She reads at a 3rd grade level and does 2nd grade math.  She has no health issues.  Don't blame yourself and cry when you need to.  When you bring the baby home make sure to read to him, sing to him and love on him. Everything will be fine.

I have a 32 weeker! - I had twins at 32 weeks, sadly one boy did not survive birth. The other is currently 18 months old!

Having a premie is sooo hard, the NICU stay is an emotional and mental rollarcoaster!  But the staff here was fantastic and so understanding.

I cried every time I left my son! I never wanted to leave! I spent from 6am until 11pm every day with him. Whether I sat beside his incubator and cried and stared at him or sat an held him for hours on end.

We spend 4 long weeks in the NICU and my son came home at a mere 5lbs.
