How much more weight do I need to lose? (long)

Kendra • Find your own happiness. Don't do what others expect of you. ~Baby Dust~
Red shirt is what I am now. Blue shirt is where I started. PLEASE NONE OF THAT "OH YOURE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE YOU DONT NEED TO LOSE A POUND" BULLCRAP! I KNOW IM BEAUTIFUL BUT I WANT TO BE HEALTHY AND I WANT TO BE THIN. Please I want honesty and I want real advice. Okay so I eat really well. Usually a hard boiled egg and mango in the morning a can of tuna on a slice of bread with some tomatoes and a hard boiled egg for lunch and then either beef or chicken for supper with mashed potatoes (to finish carbs) and either peas broccoli or carrots. I drink a coke a day and a shit ton of coffee. I snack on either strawberries or broccoli throughout the day. I walk at 3am for about an hour I do yoga at 6am I do high intensity workouts for 2 hours around noon and then I take the dog out for a walk every 2 hours in between that and that usually lasts for about an hour. I have been doing this for 6 months maybe more and the scale says I am still at my starting weight of 245lbs and some weeks im 255lbs. I was a size 20 I'm now a size 16-18 and I'm 5'4 20 years old. Idk what I'm doing wrong and Idk why I'm not losing weight. I literally only used to lose weight when I was anorexic and I'm fighting everyday not to fall back into that. I keep convincing myself that im losing weight but then I do my monthly weigh in and it says I've either gained weight or am the same. No muscle does not weigh more than fat and you do not gain it at the same rate you lose fat. Starvation mode is a myth and I eat 1200cals a day. I drink 8 glasses of water a day. I sleep between 6-8 hours. I have insomnia so it isn't regular. I'm tired of seeing my body like this. I used to be 140lbs and a size 4 and now ever since my mirena I haven't had a period for 10 months and I've blown up to the size of a whale. What am I doing wrong!? Why am I not losing weight?! How much more weight do I need to lose?

Based on bmi your goal would be to weigh 145lbs. Speak to a dietician drop the coke and cut out sugars. I don't know how you take your coffee but try taking it black also they say not to eat atleast 2-3 hours before bed maybe try a detox? Don't stress yourself work on it and day by day you'll see an improvement! Good luck btw I think you look great in pic #2

Coke is just overall not good for you. Maybe a smoothie? Either way hoping you reach your goal

Starvation mode isn't a myth. However 1200 cals a day will not starve you.

You're very welcome Jules! Speak to your doctor first & make sure your health is on track! Good luck 😊

Interesting stuff. Thanks Denise! I've always thought that there is something wonky with my metabolism though I've never had a doctor check it out. I might try this out to see what happens.

This is a cycle you can repeat for as long as you like, and is especially effective in people that have metabolic disorders , it allows your body to build up a natural supply of carbs & cut them at a rate that isn't detrimental to your metabolism

Starvation mode is not a myth. I understand that you're frustrated but you need to adjust your attitude. If you're clothes are getting smaller than you're loosing weight. Don't worry about what the scales say, yours may be broken. It doesn't sound like you're eating right. You have to give your body fuel for all the work outs you're doing. If it doesn't have any calories to burn, it turns to STARVATION MODE and starts storing everything you give it. Eat frequently, I know it doesn't make sense, but you have to stay fueled with the right food or you'll hit a plateau. And I apologize if I just read your post wrong and I came on too strong. It just seemed like you're asking for advice then shooting it down before even starting to listen.

I feel that's going to be a huge road block for you then. Good luck on your journey.

I didnt know that about protein and yes I have a dietician. when my dietician my doctor and multiple studies say starvation mode isn't a real thing it usually means that it isn't a real thing.

Get your thyroid checked by your dr. I have hypothyroidism, and I'm the same way. No matter how much I exercise/diet, the weight doesn't come off. I'm not currently on my meds because my thyroid goes back to normal when I'm pregnant, but it helps when my levels get low.

that's okay I'm just frustrated.

I have no idea then, I'm sorry I don't have better advice!

I've had it tested and they say the levels are fine. I thought it was my thyroid too.

To me it sounds like you are not eating enough healthy fats like olive oil, avocado, etc. also I agree with many previous posters. The coke has to go and try drinking coffee black or with unsweetened almond milk. Try swapping potatoes with sweet potatoes

From what you described, you are far from "eating really well". Carbs and sugar are not healthy. One coke per day is way too much. When you say you drink lots of coffee, chances are you put sugar in them. Also mango in the morning is a lot of sugar to start the day with. Snacking strawberries is okay tho. Bread and mash potatoes are also crabs that is not helping you to loose weight. In the morning, try oatmeal instead. Try to cut out that coke and coffee. Eating meat is fine, but try to replace carbs with beans or grains. Good luck

I want to point out that everyone's body is different, we are not machines, and I can only respond to what you shared on here and I do wish you can loose weight as you wanted. Of course we need certain amount of carbs and there are some that are better for your body than others. I would consider oatmeal and beans a better source for carbs than bread or spaghetti. In my experience I have done a "sugar free" diet for a month (only 25 grams sugar a day) and it helps my energy level and I lost weight without changing anything else. I would also have a hard time trusting a dietician who doesn't advice their patients to cut out one coke per day. Do what you want, its your body.

I don't add sugar to my coffee and one mango is for natural sugar. you have to have a certain amount of carbs to get through the day and this was given to me by a dietician

Sounds like it's Mirena. I would talk to your doctor and find another option. If that's when the weight gain truly started, it's clear it's horomone related and not your habits. Sorry you're going through that!

Kendra, have you tried a basic low dose estrogen based birth control to get your body some much needed estrogen?

Ke

Kendra • Jul 3, 2017
I've seen so many doctors. that thing has been out forever and I guess it permanently wrecked my body. nobody can find what is wrong with me.

I agree with other posters, see a doctor and make sure there are no health reasons blocking your weight loss. Aside from that, starvation mode is NOT a myth. Your body will go into conservation mode if you cut calories too low and keep you from losing weight. When I was trying to lose weight I cut calories down that low and completely stopped losing weight even though I was also doing intense exercise. Try a calorie tracking app that will also factor in your exercise so you can see the calories you actually need to lose weight. Make sure you are eating quality calories too; sorry to say it but the coke needs to go and if you want coffee try black. If you're eating breads make sure they are whole grain and high quality. Try sweet potatoes instead of regular for better nutrients, etc etc. You can do it!

If you're insistent on drinking coke, drink it before a workout to fuel your work out! You'll burn the sugar and your body won't crave those extra carbs later!

Ke

Kendra • Jul 3, 2017
I wasn't talking about coke women on here are suggesting i should cut out all grains or all fruits or all meats or all dairy etc also I was chewing out s in that last comment. also with helpful suggestions that I haven't tried I don't "argue". when I workout for over 5 hours a day I highly doubt one coke has that high of an impact.

Heather • Jul 3, 2017
I never knew coke was a major food group... 😂 That's the only thing I suggested dropping. Nor did I suggest any type of specific diet; of course diets don't work in the long term. It takes a lifestyle change. And yes, sometimes being healthy requires a little extra work. I spend about an hour on the weekend chopping and prepping fruits and veggies so I have healthy options to snack on throughout the week. As far as rewards; I'm sorry but a reward every single time you hit the gym isn't realistic. You're just canceling out any work done. Don't ask for help if you just want to argue with everyone that tries to offer support and suggestions.

If you're working out that much, you should be eating a lot more. Try going on the keto diet.

Amy • Jul 3, 2017
You won't be cutting out whole food groups, just limiting them. I don't feel deprived at all and I guarantee I eat way more than 1200 calories.

Ke

Kendra • Jul 3, 2017
I'm aware but cutting out whole food groups can lead to a lot of nutrient deficiencies. I'm aware of the sacrifices I eat on a 1200 calorie diet and my carbs are nearly completely restricted.

Am

Amy • Jul 3, 2017
You can. It's actually not that hard for o cut your carbs. Losing weight isn't easy, so there will always be sacrifices. If you either aren't willing to sacrifice calories or amount of a carbs, then there really is no point. At least with this, you can have full fat products which is awesome. Losing weight will always take discipline.
