Are humans naturally monogamous/polygamous?

Question

Do you think that polygamy/monogamy is a natural tendency like sexuality or do you think it a choice? Do you think that only one is natural for everyone? E.g. Everyone has a default of being polygamous but many choose monogamy. Do you think that only some people are completely manogomous/polygamous by nature while most people are able to do both?

Most animals are not monogamous. Including humans. It's in our DNA to want to reproduce. And the more partners you have offspring with - the more likely you are to have a child with successful genes. This was more useful when humans were just starting out because they needed that diversity. 
Monogamy has its benefits too though - if you choose to have children with one person only then that child is more likely to have support (financially, emotionally, etc) 
Which is arguably more important in today's society.

It's complicated. Anthropologists have concluded we're a little bit of both.

"Men are moresexually dimorphic than monogamous primate species, and are less sexually dimorphic than polygamous species.  Men have bigger testes and higher sperm counts than monogamous primates, but are not as large in this regard as the polygamous primates.  This “halfway” pattern is observed in every other measure of comparison.  The end result — human are neither monogamous or polygamous.  We are exactly in the middle."

There are a lot of factors that go into it. Culture is the biggest one. Different people of different cultures view relationships and marriage differently. What one culture views as normal may not be that way for another. In Western culture, we've generally adopted monogamy as the norm with some polyamorous people being exceptions. Personally, I am 100% monogamous and couldn't deal with a polyamorous relationship. There are many people like me in that regard and many people who are opposite in their thinking, as well. Which also makes it WRONG and entirely INAPPROPRIATE to say that we are naturally one or the other. It varies primarily by culture, then by individuals.

I think we're polygamous overall. A lot of people claim monogamy but have actually had many sexual partners throughout an esclusive relationship. I think structurally a relationship is the basis of who you would like to remain monogamous with if you were a monosexual creature. Which we aren't. So what we see if a lot of infidelity and divorces from people who won't forgive their partners mistakes. It's a whole thing if you cheat. But everyone has done it. Whether it's a kiss or whatever. Sexual comes in so many forms. A form of being non-monogamous can be as simple as masturbating to a visual of another man. It just proves that, that desire to be with more than one person is in us. Regardlesss if he permanence of our actual relationships.

Humans are naturally different. I am naturally mon. Always have been. It's just who I am and how my brain works. I'm totally cool with polygamous people. If everyone involved is cool then I'm cool. Actually, as long as no one is forced to do anything in either scenario that they don't want to do, idgaf.
But I believe each human is completely different and THAT'S what's natural.
