Is Dunkin Donuts decaf coffee safe?

I'm a FTM. My husband and I took a class at our hospital the other day and we were told decaf coffee is pretty much poisonous for the baby because of the processed used to remove the caffeine. I've had a number of cups of dunkin decaf throughout this pregnancy (I'm 35 weeks) and had no idea. I've been under the impression it's fine. I have to drink decaf because I get palpitations if I drink regular. Have you been told that about decaf coffee? Are there any alternatives?

That sounds like a whole lotta paranoia.
It's safe to consume, otherwise it wouldn't be sold. If it could potentially be dangerous to pregnant women it would be labelled as such in a super market (like energy drinks, for example).
I'd be very interested in seeing any studies that back this up.

I drank decaf through my pregnancy no problem. Did they explain why it is so bad?

Never heard this one 🙄. Seems like there's a new paranoia every other day...anyway, I've had decaf through my whole pregnancy and at 34w my baby is fine and growing right where she should...

I've never heard that.. That's really weird. But I guess as long as your baby has been healthy during your pregnancy, you're fine. I wouldn't stress too much

Yes, decaf coffee contains chemicals that are used to strip the beans of caffeine. There are pregnancy safe decaf (or half-caff) coffees you can order online, like "mommee coffee" from Amazon. For me, I just switched from 2 cups of (regular) coffee a day to about 1/2 a cup and left it at that! I wouldn't worry too much about it though. What's done is done. Many women drink decaf coffee or other liquids with chemicals in them (soda, energy drinks, etc.) and their babies are fine. No use stressing out over it. ❤️

I drank dunkin decaf and baby is fine.  If this was a proper danger, we would all know about it, you're fine mamma!

They use chemicals to soak the beans to strip them of the caffeine. There's a lot of studies that show decaf is bad for anyone not just pregnant women. I have stayed away from it and given up caffeine all together. I know you can technically have a cup a day but why risk it? I'd rather give up my Dunkin for 9 months. My friend had decaf her whole pregnancy and was fine, though. I'm just the kind of person who isn't willing to risk a thing esp bc I had a miscarriage in May. I'm sure you're just fine!
