Would I be wrong?

My friend wants to go out to lunch sometime next week, as friends do, but it's a guy! We've only known each other about 3 months so our friendship is still new & interesting which I think is the best phase. The only issue is my bf thinks all guys that talk to me are trying to get with me although I assure him otherwise. Many of the friends I had have gone separate ways so currently I don't really have any friends and I find myself wanting to talk to other people besides my bf sometimes (strictly as friends of course). Would I be wrong for going to lunch with him? 
Btw my bf doesn't try to control me as I've had guy friends in the past but I can tell it makes him a bit uneasy if he knows I'm hanging out with another guy but I don't think it's fair for him to be able to hang out with girl friends & not grant me the same.
What's you guys opinions?

I think it's fine to have friends of the opposite sex. Been with my guy almost 5 years. We both have best friends of the opposite sex that we knew before we met each other. We have complete trust. He tells me everything we are best friends. I let him know if my ex contacts me. Not because he wants to know but out of respect for him. He can go camping to a music festival for the weekend with her. I have no issues she's sparing me being miserable and am glad he has her to go to those kinds of things or other things I don't want to do. Just the same I can go to a party with my guy bff and come home at 7am and he has no issue. My guy used to feel insecure about my bff. He's very good looking. He used to say how am I supposed to compete with that he looks like a fricken model. I told him there's no competition we are best friends for over 25 years we are family. They got to know each other well and got used to him and on top of that he's got a kid and a girlfriend so there's nothing to woot about. My guy can sleep over his bffs house if she's to drunk to drive home etc. She has a kid and a boyfriend and lives with her grandparents I have no issue. Your guy is kinda right about most guys wanting more than friendship. But at the same token he should trust you. Unless you both have. History of cheating and has no reason to trust you then it shouldn't be an issue. Maybe introduce him to the guy. Or ask the guy if he can come along or another coworker too to put his mind at ease. Make sure the guy knows you are taken so he has no intentions of more. Make sure you call him buddy, pal, dude etc. Keep your distance. And remind him and talk about your guy. If he has intentions they will be stopped when you talk about things that deter his intentions. Good luck.

Eh, the same rules need to apply to you both.  If you are serious about each other, then I wouldn't do the one-on-ones with a new guy friend and likewise for him.  When we were dating, my BF (now hubby) was already or became friends with my old guy friends. However every single new guy friend knew I had a BF and still would want to hang out with me one on one (and so we did) and every single one of those resulted in them having a thing for me, and I began to entertain those thoughts too.  So it can get complicated.

Dating is one thing, but marriage is different, and all opposite sex friends we have now are all friends with us both and friends of our marriage.  No one off hang outs with opposite sex friends alone. Has proven to be nothing but trouble in the past. You may be able to control your feelings, but you can't control the feelings of the other person.  There are certainly lady friends that I trust and wouldn't mind, but they are  married too so we just either double date or if they call and need something, I'm right there.

My husband says that too. He says that he never talks to a woman u less he wants something (sexual or otherwise) from her. Which is strictly speaking true but he's not very sociable so the same could be said of most men he speaks to.

All of my friends are men and my husband has never had a problem with that in the 14 years we've been together. That said, I've always been respectful of him and made sure to keep him informed. I don't see any reason why you can't hang out as long as your head is in the right place.
