Does anybody know about the blood draw for Down syndrome at 12 weeks and how it works?  I was told you could find out the gender from that but I was also told that might be the one where they go through the belly button ☹️

It's called the harmony test. But it's only testing your blood not baby

Genetic testing is a blood test and from there they are able to see the DNA from your baby. The tests will give and list multiple conditions that are passed through genetically and they are only listed by probability. 
Through the DNA of your unborn child, yes it can tell you the sex of the baby. That's how we found out ours. And then weeks and weeks later we had the anatomy scan.

Its a simple blood test. Takes about 7 business days for results. If results are positive for downs then more testing is usually ordered.

That sounds like a NIPT (goes by several brand names: Harmony, Panorama, etc.) and is a simple blood draw through your arm. No risk to baby! 😊

For the belly button part that is only done if you agree to it and if you blood test results come back positive. You then will have a 3D ultrasound done and that's where they will discuss with you about testing the amniotic fluid. But that is only if you agree to it and there are risk for the baby with that test.
