When u want someone who doesn't want u

Girls, I was seeing someone for one year, only sex, once per month when he used to send message. When I asked him about serious relationship he said he likes to be single, and that he wasn't over his ex yet. Now he is dealing with a depression and his dad is with cancer and I have no idea how to help or if I should be closer even if he just see me as a casual thing. I love that man, wanted him to be my bf and husband one day but I can't force a situation. What u guys advice me?

I've definitely been in a situation like that before, but for me, the guys literally only wanted sex, but you should maybe just give him some space.. if he wants to be with you, he will be, but if his dad is sick, he'd probably rather be with him and you shouldn't make it about you cuz he probably doesn't even mean to make you feel that way.. if he's depressed and stressed and taking care of his sick dad, I'm sure the last thing he needs is that kind of pressure ya know? Just give him some time.

You could certainly offer your support at this time, but keep in mind what you said about not being able to force anything. That means, if you get closer and you are there for him emotionally during this time, that does not mean that he will want to be emotional attached to you in the future in other ways. When one person has feelings and the other does not, the person with feelings ends up giving a lot more of themselves than they should. Then they end up devastated when they are still rejected emotionally by the person they love. I feel like in order to fully love yourself, you should be in a situation where are you are loved and not just an option. If that's what you want from a relationship, then that's what you should have... But if he's not willing to give that to you, then there are other fish in the sea who are actually going to want to be with you in that way.

I'd love to say that you should be there as a friend but right now he is low and vulnerable and he knows you have a weakness for him. He may end up feeling drawn to you but it's a result of the place he's currently at. The moment he's in a good place then he'll sober up and you'll be left heartbroken. Spare yourself. If you wanna help, help from far like check ins over the phone or in public spaces where you have a less likelihood of getting cozy or succumbing to his charm.
