My midwife should be able to find baby's heartbeat at 13+6, right?

Question

I'm just curious if you all were able to hear your baby's heartbeat at 14 weeks or less on a doppler. I go in on Monday and she'll probably try to find it so I'm hoping she will be able to as it would be my first time hearing it. I know even at 14 weeks, baby can hide and it can be hard to find. What was your experience?

It's possible at any time to not be able to hear it, depending on baby's position, but then they usually do an ultrasound to check.

With both my babies they always have a hard time tracking them down. My last Doppler I was 24 weeks and it took two nurses to get a heartbeat, as she literally kicked and punched them away so I knew she was very much okay in there! Don't stress if they can't find it or take a while, babies can be serious ninjas!

I heard a heart beat with a vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks and with an outside Doppler at 8 weeks, and every appointment since.

I heard the heartbeat at 7w5d during my ultrasound. And has been finding it on my home Doppler since 9w5d but at my 11 week appt the doctor couldn't find it. I went home and was able to find it after about 30min. And there hasn't been an issue since. Baby is still small and can be behind the pelvic bone at that point still so if they can't find it, don't stress.  They don't have all day to try and find it and if they can't it doesn't mean something is wrong. At my 16 week appt they warned me that sometimes it's not heard via Doppler too. But we did hear it then. Good luck!

Heard it on ultrasound machine at 8 weeks.  Couldn't hear it with Doppler at 12 weeks, so they took me in to see it on the ultrasound.

I'm almost 13 weeks and last night at the er they tried the Doppler and the Dr couldn't find anything but he said it's the gray area of time but he brought in an ultrasound machine and we saw the baby's heartbeat

You can hear a heartbeat as of 6 weeks normally. You can definitely hear a heartbeat by 8 weeks.
