Formula feeding?

Question

Will the hospital staff judge me if I don't breastfeed?  Anyone who formula fed from the get go have trouble with the hospital staff trying to force breastfeeding (especially at a "baby-friendly" hospital)?

They might but it's about you and your decision so if they say anything to you just be stern to them or have you so tell them to back off. Don't get pressured into anything you're not comfortable with.

Everyone I've known that has formula fed from the start has never had issues with the hospital staff being dicks. I'm formula feeding from the start as well and better not have anyone try to give me shit lol.

My midwifes and any I've seen on L&D have always gone with the policy fed is best, as long as baby gets milk they don't have a say in whether it's from a boob or bottle

I delivered at a big pro-breastfeeding hospital. They asked me when I got there if I planned on it, I told them no and was never given any grief over it.

Mine is baby friendly and they didn't judge at all, they brought me the premixed formula and one even came in at 3am to feed baby when hubby was sleeping and I couldn't get out of bed

I had no problems with it. They gave us all the formula we needed. Who cares what other people who have no relevance to your life think. I've never had any shame about formula feeding and you shouldn't either. I was formula fed and have a stronger immune system than any breastfed person I know 😌 ( altho I'm sure there's someone, somewhere out there who does have a stronger one than me, but I've yet to meet them soo ;) )

I delivered my older two boys at the same hospital. The first time they were very pushy and finally brought my formula when my boy hadn't ate for 5 hours and would stop screaming.  I dont lactate so it just builds up in there. The second time I was forced to again. It was horrible. I threw the lactation lady out and talked to the head nurse who called my dr to verify that I couldnt feed him.

This time..... different hospital, different dr and I am taking the premix newborn Enfamil with me just in case. I will not go through the pain and humiliation of that again.

No but my dr keeps pushing me even though I told him this last year of breastfeeding has destroyed my mental health. He offered for me to come in anytime I felt I needed to vent or just talk to come in and they would be there. Not sure I trust that though.

Thanks all, I'm starting to think I can't handle coming off certain meds so that I can breastfeed.  I was a formula shamer when I had my daughter until I had to supplement.  Now I just have no idea how to formula feed from the beginning.

At a baby friendly hospital you might get a little more push back than a non certified hospital. I breastfed and had formula pushed on me. I think it really depends on the hospital as well as the type of nurses in the shift.
