Is Maddie/Maddy an acceptable nick name for a boy?

Our sons name is Maddox and my daughter has started calling him Maddy as a nick name and it's starting to stick only problem is I feel it's a bit girly what are your opinions on it? Anyone have any nick name suggestions? His middle name is joel so hubby suggested MJ but all I can think of when I say it is Michael Jackson lol
