Do you have to go to church to believe and serve God?

so im Christian. I believe in God and pray every day and read the bible here at home and serve him.. but i do not go to church at all.. some people i know say that "why aren't you at church anymore or go to church?" like if i need to go to church. they always tell me that all the time "you need jesus" like really? i already have him in my life, and praise him all the time at home , i don't need to go to church to Represent that. It's so annoying but yet these "christians that do go to church , do badder things than anyone else." such as like "show off" and are cocky and think they are sooo much better than anyone just cuz they go to church , ugh. i cant 🙈

No you don't, I don't believe in the institution of church because I feel like a lot of it is for show. I can talk to god alone and he knows my heart. I haven't been to church in years.

Omg I have been saying and dealing with this forever!! I don't think you have to go to church. I've always said the same, God knows where our hearts are, and to me, that's all that matters. Yes, people saying this are judging, something they are not suppose to do. It is so annoying. Just because you go to church does not make you holier than thou and not going to church does not mean you are worshipping the devil! You do What you feel in your heart, not what others are telling you. You dont go to church just to be going because people tell you that's the right thing, you're going to have other things on your mind and to me that's just not right. I know most believe going to church is the right thing to do and I don't disagree at all, I just feel church is different than it use to be. People go for the wrong reasons now. Church isn't just church anymore. God knows our hearts though ❤❤ sorry for the rant 😂

Don't worry about what others think. I do think going to church is a great thing to do because you're able to learn from a priest/pastor that studies the bible and at least with a priest has attended seminary school and has a better understanding and education on the bible and it's meaning. But if you don't go to church that doesn't mean you can't serve God. I used to live overseas and there wasn't a church to go to- did that mean I wasn't able to serve God? No. I served him through prayer and good works. Going to church doesn't automatically make you a good person. Just like not going doesn't make you a bad person either.

Christianity is not an individual religion, it is communal. We need support from our spiritual brothers and sisters to face trials, for accountability, and for fellowship. It is true that we are really spiritual beings and , that God and your Guardian Angel are always with you, but we are in a physical body and we require physical reminders (like Communion), physical accountability (confession), and physical uplifting (sharing good news, evangelizing) to keep us on the correct path- tangible arms and ears to turn to in times of trial and victory.

I don't know if you're Roman Catholic or not but the church sets a "rule" (let's call it that way) to every Roman Catholic to go to church at least once in a year. But at the end of the day, do what you feel is right for you. Don't go just because people tell you that you have to, it should be out of your own will to go. After all there is no harm in attending at least once.

You don't have to at all. At my school there used to be a Lasallian brother and he never went to church. He hated it. Instead he'd go out and sit in nature because he saw God's beauty in his creation. He was one of the most beloved teachers at our school and even though he left before I got there when he visits we are all excited.

Im atheist tbh but even after i stopped going to church, my old pastor came to see me after i had brain surgery. He didnt once shame me or ask me why i didnt go to church or do anything like that. He came to visit me bc he cared about my wellbeing and wanted to show his support for my recovery and wanted me to know that people cared about me and my recovery. Even though i dont believe in god, to me, he is what a real christian is supposed to be like.

I say you should go a few times because the Bible does say to praise in a group (I'll have to find you that scripture later, idk it off the top of my head), but going to church and serving God can be unrelated. It's like this, going to church doesn't mean serving God just like serving God doesn't mean going to church, you get what I'm saying? But, if you feel like you should go, just go. But not going isn't the end of the world.
