Can a baby say words at just 5 months?

Is it possible for a baby to say 'mama' or 'dada' at 5 months old? Someone told me this but my 5 month is only making the usual baby noises. Wondering if he's abit behind 😕

My 3 month old has been saying da, ma, and even rawr for a month now. Does he know what they mean? Probably not but he said them

Not behind at all. My boy is 6 months and has said "ma" a few times and is on the verge of saying "hi."

They may make the sounds "mama" or "dada", but they do not associate the sound with the meaning until around a year.
