How to shave my vagina without a rash or bumps?

Every time I shave my vagina it gets all irritated and red itchy and bumpy. I've tried bikini wax but that's even worse. What do you suggest?

Here's my routine and it helps ALOT 
- have the hottest water you can handle comfortably water for at least 10-15 mins to open the follicles. 
-shave with the hair as much as you can, with light pressure.
- with no more than 1-2 swipes against grain for spots that need extra attention 
- I use coconut oil after and let air dry 
- use fresh razors (no more than a few uses, and keep out of shower so not to get ruined. I use the Quattro for man. 
- repeat every 2-3 days, and after 2ish weeks or so it will be a sinch to do and not painful recovery
