Cervix checks safe?

Just went for my strep B at 34.5 and the Dr. checked my cervix while he was down there and it caught me off guard a little bit but now I'm reading that girls refuse them just wondering why and if it's ok I got checked?
P.S. It's closed but baby's head is really far down there tho

your doctor had no right to insert his fingers into you without your consent. 
the strep b is a simple swab across your vagina and anus. nothing is inserted.
I'd report your doctor honestly that's just so not right

My Dr said it was completely up to me if I wanted my cervix checked or not. She just asks me at each appointment.

Some people decline them because its relatively pointless information. Dilation isn't indicative of labor. They do have risks, which you should be told. Cramping, bleeding, infection, and accidental rupture of membranes can occur. 
Informed consent works like this: 1) your doctor ASKS if they can do x. 2) your doctor tells you what x is and how x is done. 3) your doctor tells you the benefits and risks of x. 4) your doctor lets you know of the alternatives to x. 5) you're given time to ask questions.  6) you decide yes or no and your doctor respects that decision. 
I would report the doctor if I were you. For a group b test there's no reason for fingers to enter your vagina. You should not be penetrated without your consent. It's assault.

The reason some women refuse is mostly that they don't want to know. You can be 3cm dialated at 37 weeks but go on to 42 weeks, or not dialated at all and then have the baby the next day. So some women just prefer not to know so they don't get super excited or super disappointed. It's consider very safe though, the spotting is mostly just because there's a ton of extra blood flow to the area right now.

My doc didn't do a cervix check (and refused to) up until 38 weeks... they shouldn't be checking unless he was suspecting something IMO
