Miscarriage?!?? Help!

Question

By the date of my last period I should be 7 weeks 4 days however after having bright red spotting I went to the doctor my HCG is 6500 and my ultrasound shows my gestational sac to have me more at 5 weeks however no heartbeat could be detected on the vaginal ultrasound. The doctor is already leaning towards a miscarriage however they want to re-check my hcg in 48 hours if it doubles then no miscarriage if it doesn't double then miscarriage. Is it really that cut and dry? Just going off hcg levels?! Anybody have any insight?!! We tried for a year to get pregnant I don't know how i will handle having a miscarriage 😓😓😓😓

Yes it really is that cut and dry unfortunately. I'm so sorry but you at least have a base line of what your levels are.  Before they even would exam me my doctor sent me to have my blood taken. I was about 11 weeks along. They then did an ultrasound and could not see a heartbeat we had just seen weeks before. I was so far into the miscarriage that my doctor was able to retrieve it. Right afterwards they sent me downstairs again to have my blood taken from the other arm and my levels dropped nearly half of what they were just an hour before.

It is up to HCG levels. They should increase exponentially. I was also measuring small like you're describing, and I miscarried. I hope everything is ok. Hugs!
