Mucus plug?

I am 26 weeks. Don't remember the loss of the mucus plug first pregnancy. This is my second. I went to hospital Tuesday for consistent extreme pains lasting 3 straight hours but no contractions showed on monitor and cervix was closed and no dilation. The pains were said to be round ligament pain maybe Braxton hicks but the pain had me crying. Does a mucus plug regenerate? It's a glob and stretchy and no smell.

I also have no pain at all at this current point and no pain since Tuesday and it's now Friday where I live.
