Baby shower in law problems

So I'm 6 months pregnant and I hate being the center of attention or being surrounded by girls.. my mother in law is insistent upon the fact that my husband her son can't come to the shower. She doesn't seem to ever listen to anything I say it's her way or no way. I'm very frustrated. She told men don't come because it will make the girls awkward.. I say a man comes because he's a man not a boy and can handle anything. The sad thing he really wants to come and be a part of this with me.. my mom is all for it as my dad who's awesome went to all three of hers for both kids he had. I just don't understand.. help...thoughts?
