What does it mean to be asexual? And are asexuals part of the lgbtq community?

I'm curious, I always heard about people being asexual but I never really understood what it actually meant.

Asexual are people who don't experience sexual attraction. They can have emotional/romantic attachments, but sex isnt something on their mind and they would be perfectly okay if they never had sex. 
However - that doesn't mean they can't be aroused (meaning that all their parts work just fine. Female asexuals can get wet. Male asexuals can get boners). Some asexuals masturbate. Some don't. 
Some asexuals will have sex with their partners. Some won't. 
Basically - when an asexual person gets horny they don't have that desire to seek out another person. They don't have the desire for that skin on skin contact. For asexuals that masturbate, being horny is always a "take care of it yourself" kind of feeling. 
And yes, they are part of the LGBTQ community.
