Ugh tampons

So basically I've had my period for four years and I've been using a pad for all of them and never touched a tampon. But I box some bc I'm like why not try it so I got them and tired to put one in but idk it hurt me and like I can put it in for some reason it's like my vagina is too small. I can't even use a dildo bc it hurts and it just doesn't go in for some reason, what should I do?
