Depends on the situation. The easiest is to ghost them block and delete if you want to avoid confrontation with a bad ex. The right things is face to face and without a bs it's not you it's me response but an actual reason which rarely happens but at lest that person knows why and isn't left wondering wtf. Although some people do it over text which sucks to be them. Well all of them sucks to be them really.

Someone went ghost on me once..one minute he was telling me how much he liked me and the next he never spoke to me again or saw me :/ extremely horrible thing to do and I was only 15 at the time so the pain felt worse.

It really depends. I broke up with my ex via text. Why? Because he was DANGEROUS. I'm not putting myself in the position to have something happen to me just to be a decent person. Plus he still $1,000 from me... oh, then he gave me genital herpes from cheating on me multiple times. He deserves more than being broken up with over text. I really hope he says something to the wrong person and gets beaten senselessly. 
Now, I think it's a different story if the guy was okay and you guys broke up because of someone being unhappy. Then I would do it face to face.
