Baby Grayson is here!

My little guy, Grayson Aleksander, was born March 25 via planned csection. This is the "long version" of the story :)
We arrived at the hospital early that morning, and the nurses started me on IV fluids. I have "curly" veins, so it took several tries to get the IV in. Once I'd had enough fluid, they took DH and I to the room outside the OR to get prepped. DH had to gown up, while I was taken inside the OR to have the spinal placed.
Having the spinal was a strange feeling! They numb your back first, but the noises and jarring motion of the spinal needle going in is...unpleasant. Once the drug started to work, they lay me down as my feet tingled, felt heavy, and then finally went completely numb. The anesthetist said that people react differently to the spinal and I was frozen all the way up to my nipples.
Once I was lying down, they lay my arms out beside me and put up a screen in front of my face. DH was allowed in at that point, and sat beside me.
My OB began the surgery and was apparently shocked at how poorly I had scarred from my first (unplanned and emergency) csection. The scar tissue was extensive and it took her a long time to get through the layers. Once in, she noticed that my bladder had adhered to the outside of my uterus due to scar tissue, so she repaired that by stitching my bladder first. Baby was also firmly stuck inside and needed to be vacuumed out, and had his cord wrapped around his neck. Lots of scary words!!!
But, all was well once I heard my boy cry. That was something that I'd missed out on with my first son, as I was under general anasthetic and didn't meet him until 24 hours after he was born. I felt (and actually continue to feel) very different about Grayson - not that I love him more, but I was able to connect with him differently from the start by having witnessed his birth.
Sweet boy was 8lbs 10oz, 21 inches long, and born at 9:11am March 25, 2015. His big brother adores him, as do we 💙
