Would you go?

Question

So on Thursday we are supposed to leave to drive about 3/4 hours away for a little extended weekend family get away. My husbands family is going to be there too. We rented out this little apartment. We are supposed to be there for 4 nights. On Thursday I'll be 37 weeks (the day we leave). 
I'm kind of nervous. What if I go into labor? But I've been REALLY looking forward to this. 
I got checked at 36 weeks and I'm about 1.5 cm dilated 50% effaced. Although with my son 8years ago I was 3 cm dilated for the last three weeks and didn't have him until the day after his due date. 
If you were in my position would you go?
In the event that I did happen to go into labor the closest hospital is about 30 minutes away from where we will be.

Are you  okay if you  need to birth in a hospital closer? If the answer  is No, then I wouldnt  risk it. I've  been about an hour 1/2 away  from home every weekend, and at 37 weeks I had a cut off. And even then, I had to be okay with  the hospitals  that were  from Point  A & B... and I was comfortable  birthing at one  about half way home.

These comments definitely help me sort of clarify my nervousness around it. I am having a hospital birth, and I am really easy going. Giving birth to my son was super easy, I had no epidural or pain meds and i just sat there with my eyes closed the whole time, just breathing. I just wanted everyone to stop talking to me. Lol. 
I know it could definitely not go the same as my sons birth, but I am ok with delivering at another hospital if necessary. I'm going for it! Lol we will take the car seat and a few necessities just in case.  But I told my husband that we as soon as we get in the car to pull away from our house we do not even mention labor unless I'm full on in labor.

My doctor said I'm limited to traveling an hour away at 36 weeks. But this is my first baby and I'm comfortable with my doctor and where I'm going to give birth so I don't want to risk being somewhere else. (Also, a 3 or 4 hour drive in the car would KILL my hips and pelvis, so I would rather not be in so much pain). But it really just depends on you, your health, and what your plan is for if you go into labor. If you're fine giving birth there in the event that it happens (which you might be), then I would just inform your doctor and get copies of your medical records in case you need them and GO!

I picked no, but I'm a hermit and a half in the 3rd trimester. Like I'm pissed off we have family asking my husband to help them move for a couple hours next weekend when I'll be 38 weeks. 😂 I'm like "they need to let you be home with me and leave us tf alone! If you're up for being around people and don't mind the thought of going into labor with them around then ... I guess you should go. I would hate that though!

I agree with pp it depends on if your comfortable with potentially delivering at a different hospital hours away from home. I personally wouldn't go. You never know when you can go into labor especially at this point.

I said Yes but PERSONALLY I wouldn't. Sounds like youre having a hospital birth so if youre ok with giving birth in the local hospital I say totally go for it. I am having my baby at home so I wouldn't want to go too far. Can't exactlt replicate that! 
Also, if this isnt your first you have the advantage of knowing how long your first labor was. If you can drive home in labor for three hours why not? Might be ucomfortable but possibly preferable to a far away hospital and a three hour drive home with a newborn.

I probably wouldn't only because I would want to be close to home if I went into labor, but as others say if you're ok with delivering in a different hospital then go for it. You're so close and just never know how it will go.

I wouldn't go but that's because my insurance for an out of network hospital is WAYYYY more expensive. If my insurance was going to the same at a nearby hospital, then I would totally go. That would be the only thing holding me back. And check online to confirm it's has a good L&D; department at the hospital.
