Would you sell?

My family has recently had a video go viral and we have had an offer by a company to purchase the rights from us. It's for a couple thousand dollars. The only problem is if we sell it we won't have the rights to it anymore, so we won't be able to do anything with it like send it into The Ellen Show, etc. . . Would you sell it? We are tempted because we are trying to pay off debt. But it's also a home video and it wouldn't be ours anymore. What would you do?

I agree with Emily! Don't sell. Run with the success. Even if you don't make more videos, find shows that want to show the viral one. I'm dying to know what video it is though lol

You might be able to sell non-exclusive rights for a set timeframe. That way you can retain rights for further dissemination later on. This would give you the best of both worlds: money from a guaranteed offer, and potential money from potential avenues down the track.

If you honestly don't plan on making any moves with the video then just take the money. Everyone always wants more but you don't know if you'll actually get more or not. Just take the money, pay off your debt and don't look back 😁
