Where does the carseat go if you only have one?

I'm assuming passenger side but I've heard all three. Middle seems too hard for me to get in and out all the time and I had always heard drivers naturally try to protect their side in a crash so I feel like drivers side is safest? But I don't know lol I'm clueless here.

I installed the base behind the drivers side. I was going to put it in the middle but the middle doesn't have the little latch hooks.

The middle in the backseat of our truck doesn't have the latch hooks which I would prefer. I tested the passenger side, but the passenger in the front seat would have to sit with their knees in the dash, so that was not practical. I ended up putting it in the middle anyway and making sure it was good and tight with the seatbelt.

We have a 4 door car and a pickup truck so theoretically the car seat would go in the back middle of both. But my husband drives a lot for work and usually takes my car for better gas mileage and I drive his truck for errands. I'm only 5'2 and I struggle to get myself in and out. I have to climb into the backseat just to even hang up dry cleaning or load groceries. So when I'm driving the truck, the car seat will be on the driver side. I don't feel safe or comfortable having to climb into the truck, unlatch the seat, then balance on the running board while holding the seat and climbing back down. At least if it's on the driver's side I can have my feet on the ground, even if I have to reach pretty high. We're working on getting a small SUV but haven't been able to sell his truck :(

The middle if you have latch there is safest, but the passenger side is next safest. Most side impacts occur on the drivers side. Plus, rear facing car seats come out pretty far, it could be uncomfortable to set the drivers seat far enough with the rear facing car seat in that spot.

I put mine on the drivers side cuz my van has sliding doors on both sides and drivers side is easiest for me to get him in and out of. That way I don't have to walk around every time. I have a 9 year old who will be in the back keeping an eye on him so that's comforting. And a 5 year old who will hopefully just leave him alone! Lmao
