Late period? TTC

Question

I'm pretty late on my period. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative, but my periods are always pretty regular! This seems unusual. I'm desperately hoping I'm pregnant! But I think I'm going to be disappointed :/

Totally having the same thing so I've been doing some research!!! It's so stinky! 
Just looked some reasons up online: 
1) bodies can produce a different type of HCG than is found in pregnancy tests, so you may be pregnant but getting negatives because they can't find it. 
2) pregnancy tests require 25mil of HCG present to get positives. Some pregnant women test as low as 12 mil so you may not be producing enough to show positive yet. 
3) you honestly just skipped your period.
My obgyn said if I didn't spot, and I kept getting negatives on my tests, and AF never came to go do a test at her office  after my period was three weeks late. Maybe the same advice is helpful for you? Good luck!
