What do doctor's check your Urine for ?

When you go for prenatal check ups, what are they checking your urine for? I know they check to make sure you're still pregnant(HCG) but are they checking for UTI's and STDs as well? For the past few days my private part has been irritated, like not badly but every so often I find myself reaching down to scratch or rushing to go take a hot bath to ease it. They'd tell me if I have an STD or UTI right? My partner had an STD way back in September but that was resolved. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I don't want this affecting my son. Advice please??

They check for STDs on your initial blood work (usually). And then during each prenatal appointment they are checking your urine for protein and sugar - not necessarily UTIs. So if you are having any symptoms out of the ordinary, bring it up to your doctor so they can run the proper tests. Good luck!

When I was pregnant they only checked HCG and STDs once at the beginning of my pregnancy. After that the urine tests at each check up was for protein and I was offered another STD test in the third trimester. They never tested me for drugs.

What do they do if you have drugs in your urine? I'm just wondering out of curiosity like do they tell you or call cps or hand you some pamphlets. What if you're early along still?

I know at my doctors office it's to check for protein and keytones in urine. See if your dehydrated or not.

during blood and urine tests they check alcohol levels any traces of drugs (even too high levels for certain vitamins) they check hcg levels and abnormalities or the RH factor... they will somewhat check for basic infections but usually they will do a women's check down there and take a swab for stds... hope this helps!

They check the protein in your urine. I don't know if they do an STD check every time, usually just the first visit and they don't check for a UTI unless you express concern that you may have one
