Are you supposed to kiss your newborn on the cheeks and forehead?

I just had my baby boy july 14th. Every since he was born, I have been kissing him on his cheeks and forehead. He is a preemie since he came early due to previous surgeries. I read a article on facebook that kissing a newborn can cause cold sores or something like that. The article was about a newborn dying from being kissed. How true is this?

It doesn't cause cold sores, the newborn died from being kissed by someone who had a cold sore. I would say it's fine for you to kiss her head but no one should kiss babies on the lips and people other than you and the father shouldn't kiss the baby at all

If you have herpes/cold sores then yes, it can cause your baby to have it too. If you don't, then you don't need to worry about it 😊 on a side note, make sure strangers and  people who do have the virus not kiss your child.

The woman who kissed the baby was unvaccinated. You can kiss baby and others could too but make sure they've been vaccinated and have had a tdap
