shower for 2nd baby different sex?

Question

So I was so lucky with my daughter...between different groups of friends and family we had 7 baby showers. This child was set!

I'm pregnant with number two and it's a boy. I've had family and friends ask if I want a shower and I'm not sure what to say. Is that rude or greedy?

I believe this baby should be showered just as much as his sister but that doesn't mean it has to be shown in a party with gifts.

We kept everything from my daughter but we will still need boy clothes and a few things she used so much we had to trash.  I'm happy to buy those...

Several of my friends who have had second babies didn't have a shower so I'm just not sure what to do.

I'd love your opinions!

Personally I feel a shower is just for the firstborn child unless their is a significant (>5 year) age gap.  But I don't like attention or feeling like I'm always asking people for gifts.  To each their own but that's my opinion on this subject.

My sister just had her 2nd child a few months ago, first is a boy 2nd is a girl. I threw her a baby sprinkle! Still a party to celebrate the baby and the parents but not so focused on gifts just girly clothes and a few things she needed. Everyone loved it

I have a 4 year old boy and had two showers for him and having another boy and also having two showers! There is nothing wrong with have showers if you have people asking/offering to throw you one! It's all apart of the fun and experience, especially since you're having a different gender now!

My best friend is pregnant with a girl and she has a 3 year old boy.  I'm throwing her a shower.  There's no registry and I've asked people to bring diapers and/or hair bows if they want - gifts are optional.  I think if people want to celebrate the birth of a baby they shouldn't feel shamed by the 'first child only' sticklers.  I'm due with another boy and if someone wants to throw a shower in honor of him - great!  I wouldn't  expect ANYTHING from the guests other than their company.  To me it's about celebrating impending life with those you hold near and dear.  That shouldn't be reserved for the first born.  Do what you want!

I'm having a shower this is my second but it's a girl although my kids will only be 16 months apart I need clothes and diapers and a few other things.

If you don't want to do a full-on shower, you could try a diaper shower instead. Then you still get to celebrate, and every baby needs diapers!

I am on the fence. My husband grandmother said multiple times if I was having a girl I had to have another shower since my first was a boy. Since finding out we are having a girl haven't heard a word.

I plan on having another baby shower if my second baby is a boy so I think it's a great idea. Most people only do it for their first so I've heard, but I see nothing wrong with having another one! I know people who have had a baby shower with every kid and have all the same gender lol
