Membrane sweep?? Kinda long but please read!

So at my 35+5 week ultrasound (2weeks ago) baby was measuring over 6.5 pounds.. I know they can be off sometimes however.... I was wondering how many ftm or moms in general asked there midwife or doctors to do a membrane sweep? I want to ask to have one done at my 39 week appointment for two reasons. One being I start classes the week of my actual due date so I definitely don't want to go past it.. and Second because I'm nervous he's going to be a big baby , because I myself was over 10pounds as a baby, my mother almost died giving birth because they waited so long and had her actively trying to push me out, I ended up getting stuck and she had to have an emergency c-section where they had to cut her in an X not just the one simple cut... so i want to avoid this situation at all cost obviously and I'd feel a lot more comfortable with the sweep then waiting.. so the question is has any moms asked for a sweep and got one or will doctors/midwifes say no?.. 😐
