At what age is it ok to start taking pills?

I'm 17 and started sexual relationship recently. We always use condom, but I'm still thinking of taking birth control pills. My period should have started 5 days ago, but it didn't, and I'm not sure if it is ok, because I sometimes have 2-3 days delay and sometimes it starts earlier. I hope this is not pregnancy, so if it isn't I think it's worth to start taking pills, but is it okay to start at such young age?

yes i started when i was 16 , only because i had horrible cramps, and i too was sexually active. So but if ur late on ur period , you need to test girl , and if you aren't pregnant see a doctor for a birth control.goodluck

I started at 12. In comparison to a lot of people, you're not young at all. Most young teens are put on it to regulate menstrual cycles instead of sex, though.

i started at 14 and took them until i was ready to get pregnant (24) and conceived within 4 months of being off the pill. its definitely not too early :)

Lol girl there is no wrong or right age to start birth control. My friend was on the pill at 14 because of her irregular period. If you are sexually active though you SHOULD be on the pill. Condoms are not 100%! Having 2 forms of birth control will lower your chances by so much. Honestly I think it's better if girls start birth control when they enter high school. Most people start having sex in high school and a 15 year old should not wind up pregnant because she thought she was too young for the pill. If you aren't sure how to bring it up tell your mom and doctor you want to regulate your period. Also I'd take a pregnancy test since your period is late but sometimes periods are just late for other reasons. Mine has been late before
