Lube for my first time?

Hi. Ok, here's my story - me and my boyfriend have been trying to have sex, but we are both virgins and everything is still new to us. None of us watch porn so all the research we are doing is through articles.

Because the pain has been very bad for me and I got really scared we decided to get some lube.

I have read some stories of people having good experiences with lube during their first times but I never found some advices on how to exactly use it.

Can you share your opinion on using lube for losing my virginity and eventually some useful advices on how to use lube properly, without making a mess?
