Should I still go?

So I love to volunteer for this welcome wagon program at school where upperclassmen help freshman move into their dorms and get settled. Its a lot of fun to help out but the issue is I would be alone for three days before anyone else gets there other than freshman and volunteers. I asked my SO to volunteer with me as it looks good on resumes and shows you're active in student life. He's unsure because it would mean leaving work 3 days early which means $300 less for him. He works at school too but he's in work study so he only gets a certain amount each semester no matter how much he works. So I guess my question is should I go anyway but be alone for three days which would suck or should I just not do it?
