What do contractions feel like??

I'm a couple days away from 35 weeks and experiencing some menstrual type cramping. Last night they were bad enough to wake me up! Is this contractions or Braxton hicks? They were just like period cramps so not something that felt easy to time so idk if that's what i was experiencing, or just my body prepping for birth.

If they are painful enough to wake you up it it contractions, Braxtons are not painful at all just tightening of tummy muscles. If you can't time them it's good it means you're not in real labor as you're very early. I think your body starting to go to labor but it can continue for days or even weeks. With my second I had this type of pain for a week...would come once or twice a day. Then on one day they got stronger and stronger and in 3 hours he was born. I was lucky to get to the hospital in time.

It definitely felt like period cramps at first. They did start to become more intense though and closer together. It's probably false labor If you can't time then and they aren't getting worse. You can always call your Ob and see what they want you to do.

I had contractions and they sent me home. It felt like my stomach got rock hard then stopped and got rock hard then stopped. I could feel it in my vagina too. I knew I was in labor but the Dr didn't listen to me! Be your own advocate!

probably just prepping. there will be a definite pain and then relief and itll be timeable. mine were mostly in my back and it was this weird build up and then it faded.
