Delayed baby shower??

Question

Due to my husbands job we live across the country from both our families. My doctor does not want me flying after 28weeks and the time frame from now and until then isn't really convenient for me to be flying out there, plus it really is expensive. I plan on registering and letting close friends and family know I've registered if they want to send gifts and then have a party of some sort after the baby is born, when it will be better time for us. Do you think it's being selfish doing it this way or do you think people would be understanding of our situation?

You have to do what's best. I don't suggest telling people you have a registry unless they ask but also have a date set for a shower so it doesn't come across as though you're soliciting gifts

We had our baby shower after the baby was born and it was the best decision we ever made. We knew the gender, we knew exactly what we needed and were able to ask for/register for exactly what we wanted. Plus, everyone loved it because they actually got to see the baby and not just a big belly! I was hesitant about the idea at first but it turned out to be way better in the end.

I don't think it's selfish at all! The ones who really matter will understand, or maybe come visit themselves! Also, my sister lives in town and went really early with her first, so she got to bring the baby to her shower and everyone loved it!
