Parenting fail or totally appropriate?
I just watched a meme video, at the top it read "me as a parent". The 30-second clip started to play, a father was videoing his (probably) 10 year old girl.
Dad says, "go to them!" And the girl excitedly runs off into a field after a small flock of geese.
The girl runs and runs, she looks so excited. Dad is still filming and keeps edging her on, telling her to get closer to the geese and he laughs to himself.
The girl gets closer and suddenly one of the geese turns around and begins to charge at her.
She turns, flails about and screams bloody murder as the goose flies at her face. She yells, "Daddy, help me!!"
Dad laughs hysterically and continues filming.
Small girl keeps running and screaming, she falls at one point and the goose gives up.
The child walks back to her father, sobbing. Her dad is doubled over laughing and you can hear another woman in the background laughing, too.
After watching the video, I'm feeling angry. This child trusts her parents, she did as he said and when it backfired, he laughed in her face. I'm appalled at all the comments as others who have watched the video think it's hilarious.
I want to know what you all think, is it appropriate to trick a child in the name of humor, or even in the name of a useful lesson? Or do you think parents tricking their children is appalling?
