My birth story
Now that I finally have some time I'm ready to post about my birth experience things get a bit hectic when you have a newborn to take care of. I honestly didn't think I'd be writing this so soon being as I haven't even reached my due date yet (august 8). With me being a first time mom I didn't think my baby girl would be early I was expecting her to be late but she showed me who's boss! I was 35 weeks 5 days on July the 9th I wasn't having any labor pains or anything I felt completely fine. My husband and I had just got home from our baby shower and I was trying to put up some of the gifts we received when all of a sudden I felt like I peed myself a little. I was a little embarrassed and I just figured that the baby had squished my bladder and made be pee a little so I cleaned myself off and changed my underwear. As I was walking back i felt the gushing sensation again, this time I suspected it might be my water because I had just used the restroom there was no way I peed myself again. My husband was playing a video game with some of his friends and I told him not to be alarmed but I think my water might have broke. We started to get our hospital bag together just in case it really was my water and we had to stay. I started leaking everywhere I had to put a towel between my legs to catch everything lol. We were excited and nervous because we didn't have her room ready or anything. We had most everything we needed we just hadn't finished everything yet. My water broke around 7 and we finally got admitted to the hospital around 10. The hospital got us in a room and hooked up my iv and all the baby monitors which baby girl didn't like very much she was constantly kicking the monitor. The doctor wanted to see how far I could progress on my own so they left us alone to get some rest. The next morning they checked me to see if I progressed any and I hadn't I stayed at 2 cm dilated all night so they wanted to start pitocin around 9 am. I initially wanted to try to go natural I wanted to see how far I could go on my own but the pitocin changed my mind very quickly. Around 12 am I started having contractions every minute and I couldn't take it any more. I was in tears, I tried moaning and humming through the pain but it didn't help I wasn't getting a break. Finally I was able to get an epidural, which I was practically begging for at that point. Yes the epidural hurt, but after it started working I was so grateful for it lol. I was finally able to get some sleep for a few hours but they came in around 4 and hooked me up to oxygen because the baby's heart rate dropped. We started doing practice pushes after about 4:30 because I was dilated to an 8. As soon as the nurse left the room I felt a lot of pressure like I had to use the restroom so I called her back in and she told us I was at a 10 she would get the doctor. It was about 5:30 when they finally got everything set up and the doctor came in. He did end up having to cut me which was by far the worst part of my recovery. I pushed maybe twice after he cut me and then she was here! Brinley Dianne was born at 6:15 pm weighing 5lbs 2oz with a height of 18 1/2 in. She had a bit of trouble latching at first but that was mainly my fault because I didn't know what I was doing lol. We are now EBF with the occasional pumping so daddy can feed her as well. We just love our sweet baby girl and we are so thankful she was so healthy and we had a safe delivery. My husband and I have gone through a molar pregnancy and a early miscarriage, I stayed worried about this baby the entire pregnancy i still worry even now. My husband has helped me so much I don't know if I could have done it without his support and love. I've been waiting a while to experience this, patiently waiting my turn as I read all you ladies stories about birth and/or loss. This app has helped me so much during my pregnancy and I hope all you ladies have safe and healthy pregnancies and births! I look forward to reading your stories!
