Experience with Copper IUD?

Hi all, I am strongly considering getting a copper IUD. As there are mostly horror stories online, I was wondering what experiences the Glow community might have had with the copper iud. Please share experiences (especially positive!) thank you!!

Hey I've had my paraguard copper IUD for over three years and have nothing but good things to say. The first year my periods were heavier and more painful but I just kept telling myself that it was all worth it and in the long run it has been. I haven't had to worry about birth control with my SO for three years and while all my friends always freak out about accidental pregnancies I never have to worry! I love mine.

Sorry, mine wasn't good either. Nearly every possible negative except perforating anything (that I know of). Bled fairly heavily for 6 straight months before they would take it out. Was in the er for extreme pain the day it was put in (and I generally have a high tolerance). 
I wanted off hormone birth control but that was not worth it. 
Off everything now and doing NFP.

I got paragard out in on March 2nd and am so glad I did! I was freaked out by all the horror stories online too but I really haven't had it too bad so far. The first day sucked - I got it put in in the early afternoon and stayed in bed the rest of the day. The next day I woke up feeling surprisingly better but still crampy. I felt crampy and bloated for several days after. That went away after about a week. Then o got my period like two weeks early but I didn't have terrible cramps which was nice. It was heavier than usual but really not too bad. I will say that after I went off the pill my periods became super light and I didn't really have cramps at all so you may have a different experience if you have bad periods/cramps now.

Had mine for almost 3 years and I love it. No issues at all, except my obgyn cut my strings really short so I can't check them on my own. I recommend it. Be wary of heavier than normal periods for some time after insertion though, that's typical.

Ive had my IUD for 1 yr 4 months and so far its great. No need to remember to take precautions since its permanently placed. 
  Insertion is quite painful especially since I've had csections with both my boys but my Dr. gave me some medicine to help me dilate and make it less painful. Periods and cramps are pretty painful the first six months to a year but after that the periods and cramps go to a medium in heaviness and pain.

I have the Mirena and I'm very happy with it! No need to be worried about getting pregnant. The first 3months were a little wierd because all the spoting and cramping almost everyday, but now I don't have a period at all. Either pain.
