Can't lift baby into crib- creative solutions?

I just had an emergency appendectomy on Friday, and am not allowed to lift anything for 8 weeks, which includes my 17 month old son. I'm already up and about enough that I should be able to keep up with him when my husband is at work, but since he works until midnight and my son goes to bed at 8:00 I'm trying to think of ways to get him into his crib. I'm thinking of maybe finding an appropriate sized step stool if possible, but thought I'd see if there were any other creative ideas out there! (I'd prefer not to transition him into a toddler bed just because of this issue, plus we have another baby on the way so I'm trying to keep as much consistency as possible for son #1).
