Curious. Do you think this is a dick move?

I try to keep sealed pet food in the back of my vehicles, specifically cat food since it's better for dogs to eat that then the other way around and cats may not eat dog food. Anyway, I use this and (eco-friendly) disposable bowls to feed strays when I see them.  However, there's been plenty of times I've seen homeless people with animals and contemplated stopping to give their assumed pet food, but since I usually have no money to give the person on me I don't stop. Why? Because I would feel like a huge dick walking up to someone who needs help and give their animal food instead of them. Yet at the same there's a animal who could probably use some help or is suffering and I have free food to give. Am I wrong here?

I fed an animal that belonged toba homeless person abd he started crying.  He said hes been sitting a whole day there, just to make a few bucks to feed his dog that has yet to eat that day. He said he didn't eat in two days, because he wants his pet fed first.  
U see...when u feed their pets,  u allow them to get food for themselves and not share it with their pet, because they eat already.  Ur actually feeding them both when u think about it. Many go days without eating, just to see their pet fed FIRST

It isn't a dick move to help their animal and not give them money. They obviously love their pet, and likely struggle to feed themselves and the animal - and would be thankful for helping the animal they care about. You are also helping the homeless person because now they have one less stomach to feed for the day.

Ive bought a homeless person some food and he asked me to buy cat food instead of food for him cause his cat can't eat bread and stuff. I bought them both food.

Why not just be honest with the person? If all you have is cat food, explain to them, thats that's all you have. It's still something, ya know and something is better than nothing. Besides, you can always start keeping some little something on hand, like crackers and water, or something like that, and you can also be an example to others. When other people start seeing you stop to help someone out, your kind actions may prompt them to stop and help out too! So go ahead and stop, regardless of how little you think you have to offer because it's a lot more than what others may have and be that example to others!

I'd help anyway and just apologise that you have no money or human food on you. I totally get where you are coming and feeling awkward from but remember you are doing an amazing thing and those people are grateful for anything they can get 🙂

It's a tough choice. I would say, any form of help is appreciated.sometimes the pets haven't ate and giving the pet food allows them to be able to focus on getting food for themselves. I would give them food. And if u have a water bottle give the human the bottle of water. Maybe

It's not the animals choice or fault that they are homeless, I always give them food for their animals.

You could also carry bottles of water and granola bars and other dry goods to hand out. And they're less expensive than canned cat food sometimes.
