painful periods after baby?

My daughter is now 1 and my periods are starting to get pretty painful especially on my heaviest days. I rarely suffered from cramps before hand but now my stomach feels like its rippimg apart, im getting back pain and yesterday the pressure down below was insane. It felt like i was in labour again. Im 3 days in and things are starting to ease of but the first few days are a nightmare every month. im not on birth control to help ease it as i suffer from migraines with aura and my doctor doesnt recommend taking the pill. Is there anything else i can do besides painkillers (they dont really help)
