I'm 23 and had my first one yesterday. I'm not a virgin but I've only had sex with cisgender women. I literally SCREAMED during the exam. I've heard similar things from other friends. It hurt sooo much!

Yes I almost fainted after my first one. I freaked out because I kept telling the nurse practitioner that it hurt but she wasn't taking the speculum out of me. Every time I've had sex and it hurt, I told my SO and he takes his penis out of me, so I felt like I didn't know how to handle the pain. I got my first one at 21, and I have to get my next one in about a month 😳 I'm scared.

My Pap smears and pelvic exams have always been a breeze. It confuses me when women say it hurts lol. It was nothing compared to getting my IUD in. But everyone's experience is different so 🤷🏻‍♀️

it's really not that scary, you definitely just need to relax and it should be over before you even realize it happened
