Not good enough for Mother in law?

So me and my SO have been together for about 1 year and a half officially. I've engaged with his mother in 6 occasions or less. This is because we live in another city hours away. I told my SO from the moment she met me, that she didn't like me and I could just tell. I told him about the number of times she'd not say hi to me at family events or just act really distant and weird. At last it was finally confirmed last week. His cousin mentioned how she once said to his mom (her sister) that she didn't like me because my family was "low income"....WHAT?! I felt so offended and disgusted that someone would even judge me in that way. I understand if it were because of my characteristics but really, money?! Anywho, more came to the light when me and him had a fall out about a month ago. (We're back together) and she told him she was glad I was out of the picture and BLAH, blah, blah. He stood up for me and told her to mind her business and for that, for basically putting his foot down, she disowned him and they're now in a huge fight. Harsh things were said between the two...ALL because of me? Does she dislike me that much? What do I do? At first I cared and dressed this because for GODS SAKE ITS HIS MOTHER. But does she even deserve to be honored? Someone help...

My mother in law & father in law threatened to kill me because my now - husband and I moved out when we were living with them. Like straight up Forreal threatened me lol

My mil didn't like me from day one either. She hated my ass. She would find any excuse to get me in trouble! Like if I put something on fb she would turn it the wrong way and talk shit to Me. It just recently came up that she was mad at me because I took her son away from her when he got back from Korea (he's in the Army). But we were separated in our whole first year of marriage, of course I wanted him all to myself when he got home! She just never accepted the fact that he left her nest.. Mothers are real jealous when it comes to their sons. She gave me shit for all 3 years that we've been together! Until my husband told her that whatever happened between him and I wasn't hers or anybody's business. & yes, you feel bad. But they need to hear it from their sons because then they will never back off. I'm so glad your man defended you! Mine took a while, until he noticed I was getting tired of his family always saying bad things about me. I'm sure they'll get over this fight.. But he did the right thing putting his foot down. Trust me, mil are more likely to ruin relationships lol.. Hope everything gets better! Good luck!

Understand Im in the same boat. I'm not good enough for my mil her son deserves better  is what she has told me to my face. All abt money and how I was raised. They are afraid of losing their baby boys. BC being with us replaces them. When he stood up to her she disowned him and all. Abt 6 months later we found out I was pergo and then she did a 180 abt everything and wanted me to give her the baby since i wasn't good enough for her son I wasn't good enough to raise her grandchild.  I finally just told her that u don't have to like me or even speak to me but I wasn't going anywhere so either get over urself and off her high horse BC she isn't better then me and for Pete sake as long as ur son is happy that should b the only thing that matters. After having a backbone towards her her attitude changed and its been almost a yr and now we can b in the same room without killing each other.

My advice to you is to stay the hell away from her. I've learned that the hard way with my fiancés mother. We've had so many ups and downs in the past 5 years. She's called me every name in the book, makes up lies to tell her son and everyone else, & is just plain crazy! I have tried on numerous occasions to be civil with her and to her friend but she just wouldn't stop. I finally got the courage to tell her to back off and leave me alone. She put me under so much emotional stress that I had enough. I honestly feel better now that she isn't in my life. My fiancé knows she crazy as well and has very little contact with her. She is the jealous type and would cause all sorts of drama. I'm the quiet reserved type of person so I continued to put up with it and one day I was done. My fiancés Grammy (his dad's mom) has told me serveral times how crazy and psycho she can be and has told me numerous stories of her but I found out the hard way. You don't have to have people like that in your life. You are in a relationship with your SO! Not her or anyone else!

Welcome to having a Monster in Law. My Monster in Law has had a problem with me from day 1 and my SO and I have been together 9 years now. Guess what? She still doesn't like me and I could give 2 shits. The part that irritates me the most is she won't dare say shit to my face, cause she knows I will make her eat her words.. But she CONSTANTLY runs her mouth behind my back to my SO. Sometimes it bothers me, but ya know.. What can really be said about someone who can only talk about you when your back is turned? So that's where she stays, behind me, like a fart in the wind.. Haha

MIL are different beings it's almost like when a guy meets a girl his moms head becomes wired differently which I'm pretty sure is just out of jealousy...I'm trying to figure mine out too lol

My future mil is the same way she even went as far as attempting to help him cheat on me! She says I never talk to her or any his family but its because I'm shy and don't feel welcome. Plus I feel like they take advantage of him.

My mil and I have a rocky relationship. In the beginning when we were just dating life was great. On our rehearsal day for our wedding it all changed and has never been the same. She only tolerates me because of our daughter. I have no idea what her issue is with me it's never been said. I have a feeling it's because I'm not afraid to tell someone where to shove it and I stand my ground and she's used to walking all over people.

Family is just one of those things you have to deal with when you love someone. My MIL is crazy and she let her grown 33 yr old son show up drunk to our wedding and walk her down the aisle crooked, not to mention cause an ugly scene during our reception and blamed me for his behavior saying we are too "uppity". Sometimes you have to let crap go and realize that your spouse is picking you over all of them and that's what matters.
